Wanaparthy district cops rescue kidnapped boy within 17 hours

He also demanded that she be sent to Pune by train.

Hyderabad: Police of Wanaparthy district in a joint operation with Pune police rescued an 8-year-old kidnapped boy, Chandu Nayak, from Pune within 17 hours and nabbed the kidnapper, Vamshi Krishna, an auto-rickshaw driver.

According to cops, Vamshi Krishna went to the school where the boy was studying, told the staff Chandu’s mother had met with an accident and fled with the boy. When the boy did not return home, his family registered a case.

While the investigation was in process, Vamshi called Wasif Baba, husband of Chandu’s maternal aunt and demanded that he send her to him as he was in love with her. He also demanded that she be sent to Pune by train.

With this information, cops came to Nampally railway station and found Vamshi’s auto-rickshaw and later travelled to Pune along with Wasif baba and his wife Narsamma. Wasif made him believe that they were coming to Pune to hand over his wife. Meanwhile, teams collected his photograph and details and shared the same with Pune police and the railway police. When the train reached Sholapur, Vamshi noticed the RPF teams on check and got off at Sholapur and called Wasif Baba and said, “Why are you sending the police after me? I am going to take a bus to Pune.”

Seeing police presence at bus stations too, Vamshi boarded a local train and reached Pune station where he was apprehended and the boy was rescued. He was shifted to Wanaparthy on a transit warrant and produced before court.
