Hyderabad: A techie working in a multinational company, who wanted to switch job to another company, was allegedly harassed by an ex-colleague who sent her messages seeking sexual favours. A Twitter user and friend of the techie, who goes by the name Shiva Shankar, took to Twitter to complain to the Cyberabad police on behalf of the victim.
According to the complaint, the accused purportedly harassed the victim by seeking sexual favours. “He’s telling her to sleep with him so that he will take care of her career growth and assuring that she will get hikes and promotions,” said the post by her friend.
Furthermore, the ex-colleague of the techie allegedly described her body parts to let her know of his intention of sleeping with her. The friend alleged that the ex-colleague was fearless, wealthy, and is under the assumption that he can bribe the police and others. The friend said that the victim is terrified to talk so he had to take this route to help her.
Police said that the victim wanted to get a job and sent a message to the manager, who replied to her with explicit content. A case has been registered against him. He was booked under Section 354 D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code at Madhapur police station. No arrests have been made so far. Shankar pointed out that the person currently works in Wells Fargo. When contacted, the company was unavailable for comment.
