Hyderabad: Tailor strangled, gold, cash stolen from home

The killers latched the room in which other members of Ameer's family were sleeping and the house of his tenants before the murder.

Hyderabad: A 62-year-old tailor who was sleeping at his home in Bhavaninagar was murdered in the wee hours of Sunday. Police said that someone strangled the tailor, Abdul Rehman Bin Ameer, with an electric cable.

Ameer was sleeping along with his family in one of the rooms in his house. Later, he moved to another room at around 3 am. The killers latched the room in which other members of Ameer’s family were sleeping and the house of his tenants before the murder.

Inspector B. Srinivas Rao said that Abdul Rehman Bin Ameer was working as a tailor till a few years ago. On Saturday evening he, his wife and son went to a Walima function in Chandrayangutta and returned by 12 midnight.

Police said that after that they slept in one of the rooms in their house. Later, Ameer moved to another room and his wife and son continued to sleep in the same room. At around 12.30 night he got a call from an unknown number.

When the family woke up in the morning they found their room latched from the outside. With the help of neighbours, they came out and were shocked to see Ameer lying on the floor.

“Someone strangled him with a cable. After that they fled with the 27 tola gold jewellery that he had kept in an almirah in the room in which he was killed,” Mr Srinivas Rao said. Based on a complaint from his son, Sarah Bin Abdul Rehman, a case was registered. The body was handed over to the family after post mortem.
