Hyderabad: Thirteen people suffered from severe abdominal pain, diarrhoea and giddiness after consuming spurious toddy at Jukal village in Shamshabad mandal on Saturday afternoon. A four-year-old child was also given toddy and was admitted in Trident Hospital in Shamshabad. The others are all male members who work as labourers in farm.
Dr Satyam Yadav, director of Trident Hospital said, “The chemical mixed in toddy is usually used in farms to kill rodents leading to severe gastric disturbances. The patients have been stabilised. All of them are out of danger.” Police has started an investigation.
