Nellore: Gang of five posing as Income Tax officers loot gold

Posing as income tax officials, five unidentified persons gained entry into the house and decamped 200 grams of gold and Rs 10,000 cash.

Nellore: Posing as income tax officials, five unidentified persons gained entry into the house of a gold shop proprietor Jayaraman under the pretext of search and decamped with 200 grams of gold and Rs 10,000 cash during the early hours of Thursday at Nagalapuram in Chittoor district on Thursday.

According to information Jayaraman carried some jewels to home on Wednesday night. The accused came by a Sumo, which had a board indicating that it is a government vehicle, around 4.30 am and knocked the doors of Jayaraman.
Claiming that they are income tax officials, they asked all the family members to remain wherever they are till they complete the search. They have forced them to hand over the keys of cupboards and collected details of the valuables in the house.

Jayaraman and his family members realised that they were taken for a ride when they found the 200 grams weighing gold ornaments and Rs 10,000 cash missing from the house after the fake IT officers left the house.

Satyavedu CI Narasi-mhulu and Nagalapuram SI Venkatesulu along with clues team members scanned the house and elicited information on the incident from the victims before registering a case.
