Hyderabad: Couple held for theft in house
Hyderabad: A couple who targeted houses that were offered to be let out decamped with property from the houses, was arrested by the Rachakonda police on Saturday.
Police said that the couple would enter the houses as tenants. To avoid suspicion, they took their kids with them. The arrested were identified as Mandala Renuka, 24, and Mandala Madhu Goud, 32, a daily wage earner. Police seized property worth around Rs 2.5 lakh from the couple.
According to the police, Madhu and his wife were addicted to toddy and they would drink regularly. But as Madhu’s earnings were not sufficient to run the house, they decided commit thefts and began to target houses which had ‘To-let’ boards.
DCP Malkajgiri Ch.R. Umamaheswara Sarma, said that on January 29, they noticed a To-let board and saw that the owner was sleeping in the hall. Renuka told Madhu to keep watch outside and she entered the house and stole gold jewellery from the almirah.
Police registered a case and started a probe. On Saturday morning, when the couple were waiting in Vinayak Nagar to dispose of the stolen property, police teams nabbed them and on inquiry they confessed to their involvement in both incidents.
