The IT officials also reportedly raided reputed jewellers in the City.

Bengaluru: The Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation) Karnataka & Goa on Wednesday cracked down on four prominent restaurateurs/hoteliers in the City, who have chain of restaurants/hotels in other metro and Tier 2 cities for alleged tax evasion and non disclosure of taxable income, wealth and assets.

The DGIT, according to official sources, conducted search and seizure operations at 34 locations belonging to the four groups, which reportedly include ‘Goldfinch’ and ‘Barbeque Nation’ in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Indore and Faridabad. The IT officials also reportedly raided reputed jewellers in the City.

“The four groups are in food and hospitality business and have chain of restaurants in other cities. The search and seizure operations have been conducted simultaneously at all the 34 locations for alleged tax evasion and non disclosure of taxable income,” said an official source. On being asked if the raids were linked to any politicians, the officer said there is no political motive behind the operations. “Any relation (of the raided) to a politician is purely accidental,” he added.
