Kakinada: Nidadavole police on Sunday arrested four persons – Suvvada Govinda Raju, Majji Bala Durga Pravin, Suvvada Bhargava Ramakrishna Sai and Suvvada Jaswanth Karthik of Rajamahendravaram – on the charge of beating up an RTC driver at Nidadavole on Saturday.
East Godavari district superintendent of police P. Jagadish said when the RTC bus had been going to Nidadavole from Rajamahendravaram, a person crossed the bus without giving any signal. Following this, the bus driver reprimanded him.
Angry over this, the person, accompanied by his family members, chased the bus in a jeep to Nidadavole. They beat up the driver with iron rods and other weapons, injuring him seriously.
Based on CCTV footage, Nidadavole police identified the accused and arrested them on Sunday.
SP Jagadish said stringent action will be taken against the persons who attack government employees or RTC drivers on duty. He pointed out that recently, Nellore police have arrested some people for beating up an RTC driver and sent them to jail.
Nidadavole police have registered a case and have started proceedings against the accused.
