Visakhapatnam: A special court in Visakhapatnam dealing in Pocso cases on Friday convicted a 31-year-old man to 25 years imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 for sexual attack on a four year old girl. The court also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to be paid to the victim.
Giving details of the case, ACP of Disha police station Ch. Vivekanand said on January 13 evening this year the victim girl went to attend Lohri celebrated in CISF quarters in Steel Township all alone. The accused, her neighbour, took her to his house and touched her private parts.
The girl returned home and informed her mother. She found blood oozing out from the private parts. The mother went to the function and pulled up the man and later lodged a complaint with the Steel Plant police station. A case was registered on the same day.
The case was later transferred to Disha police station, The ACP Vivekananda investigated the case and produced all the witnesses in the court.
Based on the evidence, the special Judge for trial of offences under Pocso Act, Visakhapatnam pronounced judgment on Friday convicting the accused with rigorous imprisonment for 25 years and imposed fine of Rs5000.
The judge also ordered compensation of Rs.5 lakh to the victim girl.
