Telangana: 4 booked for slaughtering of camels
Hyderabad: Over 97 camels have been seized in Balapur police station limits and four men have been booked under IPC 428 and 429 for illegal slaughter and cruelty to animals.
The meat of around five camels was found to be stored in a cold storage unit at Shaheenagar, Balapur where a slaughterhouse for camels was also present.
“These camels were kept in a compound and were taken in bulk for slaughtering. We have not kept them in the same place and provided fodder and water,” said Mr Ravinder Reddy, Vanasthalipuram ACP.
“The medical examination of these animals is still going on. The accused are absconding,” he added.
Police officials say that the illegal slaughtering of camels is growing at an alarming rate in Telangana. The buyers of the same have also increased. Police found the location of these camels with the help of a tip-off. Balapur Inspector, Sri Mohan Reddy was also present during the time of inspection of the compound where these camels were cruelly tied up before being taken for slaughter.
