SIRCILLA: The Sircilla police booked a criminal case against the Sircilla CCS SI B. Ravinder in connection with the ‘Nerella’ incident by responding to the High Court which asked the police what steps they have taken against the accused in the incident of police torturing Dalits in Nerella.
Ravinder was already put under suspension after conducting an inquiry into police using excessive force against the Dalits by Karimnagar Range DIG Ravi Verma.
A police case was registered against the Ravinder at Thangallapalli police station under which Nerella falls. The police filed a case against Ravinder following a complaint lodged by Ganesh.
However, families of Dalits and BCs had lodged a complaint with Vemula-wada DSP against 18 policepersonals including Sircilla sub-inspector of police Vishwajit Compati in the past for torturing dalits in Neralla.
