Hyderabad: Missing boy found dead in water pit

8-year-old boy went missing on Sunday morning.

Hyderabad: The body of a third standard student who went missing on Sunday morning was found in a water-filled pit at a construction site on Monday evening.

Eight-year-old Mo-hammed Altaf, a resident of Al Jubail Colony, went out to play with his friends on Sunday morning.

When he did not return in the evening his family made frantic efforts to trace him.

On Monday morning, they lodged a complaint with the Chan-drayangutta police who registered a case.

The family members checked the nala that passes through the colony but with no success. On Monday evening, some people spotted the body of a child floating in the water pit and informed the police.

“The contractor had dug pits for erecting columns for a multi-storey building. Due to the heavy rains, the pits were filled with water and the boy must have gone there and slipped,” said K Laxmaiah, sub inspector Chandrayangutta police. The body was later shifted to the Osmania hospital mortuary. A case has been registered.
