Bengaluru: Software engineer stabbed to death
Bengaluru: An early morning ride to his friend’s house turned tragic for a 28-year-old techie, who was stabbed to death by unidentified men near the chocolate factory on Tavarekere Main Road. The incident occurred in a packed residential area around 4 am on Monday in Madiwala police limits.
The deceased, a software engineer with Accenture – Pranay Mishra, was from Odisha. Sunday being a holiday, Pranay was at his friend’s room in Begur along with other college friends where all of them partied till 8 pm.
Around 8.30 pm, Pranay booked a cab to reach his house in Krishna Murthi Layout in Suddaguntepalya. He dropped his friend on the way before reaching home. Later at around 2.30 am, Pranay called up his girlfriend, who is also a techie and a resident of BTM Layout 2nd Stage, and informed her that he would be coming to her place.
Pranay left in his two-wheeler and before he could reach the destination, a few unidentified men stopped his bike and stabbed him twice in his stomach. Pranay died of excessive bleeding. Though it was initially suspected that robbers may have stabbed him after Pranay resisted their bid to rob him, the police have found all his belongings intact. This prompted the police to investigate the personal
enmity angle.
The incident came to light when neighbours spotted Pranay lying in a pool of blood. As they gathered around him, Pranay received a call on his mobile from his girlfriend whom the neighbours informed about the incident. She then called up their mutual friends and informed them who immediately rushed to the spot took Pranay to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
A case has been registered at the Madiwala police and three teams have been formed to identify and catch the culprits. The police are also examining the footage from CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene.
