Bengaluru: Lorry mows down 60-year-old rider

Alert passersby nabbed the fleeing driver, assaulted and handed him over to the police.

BENGALURU: Three people, including a 60-year-old man, died in separate road accidents in Kengeri, Pulikeshinagar and Chikkajala traffic police station limits since Saturday.

In the first incident, a 60-year-old rider died on the spot after being mowed down by a speeding lorry near Nayandanahalli on Saturday night in Kengeri traffic police station limits.

According to the police the deceased has been identified as Satyanarayan, a resident of Duvasipalya and a retired employee of NGF, K.R. Puram. Police said the accident took place around 10 pm when Satyanarayan was going home in his bike. A speeding lorry rear ended his vehicle while overtaking. He got flung into air and died instantly after sustaining grievous head injuries.

Alert passersby nabbed the fleeing driver, assaulted and handed him over to the police. Kengeri police have booked the lorry driver, Suzi Jazz, under Section 304 A of IPC and seized the lorry.

Pedestrian mowed down
The Chikkajala traffic police have arrested a cab driver for causing death due to rash and negligent driving after he mowed down a pedestrian early Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Nagengowda, 55, a labourer, and the incident happened around 4.30 am near Kempegowda International Airport flyover.

Nagengowda died on the spot. Passersby alerted the police and nabbed the driver. The accused cab driver, identified as Vishwanatha, was booked under Section 304 A of IPC and remanded to judicial custody.

23-yr-old biker dead
In a hit-and-run case, a 23-yeart-old rider died on the spot after he was allegedly knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Richard's Park Road in Pulikeshinagar traffic police station limits early Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Shakti, a resident of Lingrajpuram, and the accident happened around 5.45 am when his vehicle was rear ended by a speeding unidentified vehicle. Shakti lost the control over his bike and fell.

He died instantly after sustaining grievous injuries. Alert passersby informed the police, who reached the spot and shifted the body to a nearby hospital. Pulikeshinagar traffic police have registered a case and begun investigation.
