Bengaluru: 2 held for assault on RSS worker
BENGALURU: A 40-year-old RSS worker was allegedly assaulted by a gang of eight men when he tried to mediate between two parties who were attacking each other over a trivial row on Saturday. Yeshwanthpur police arrested two people and are on the lookout for six others.
The complainant, Dilip, who is an RSS Vasati Pramukh in Yeshwantpur and a contractor, was beaten up by the eight men when he tried to separate two people fighting over construction material, the police said.
The arrested are identified as Rafique and Zaffer. Rafique, who is constructing a house, had fallen short of cement and wanted to borrow some from the construction site next door, and approached the watchman, Guru, who refused. Rafiq got angry, picked up a quarrel with Guru and they started exchanging blowS at Muthayala Nagar in Yeshwanthpur around 6 pm on Saturday.
Dilip, who saw the two fighting, intervened and tried to pacify, but in the melee, Rafique allegedly assaulted Dilip. Soon, blows started flying as some friends joined Rafique in the fight and beat up Dilip.
Dilip, who was bruised in the face and head, was rushed to a hospital. He later filed a police complaint. Rafiq and Zaffar were arrested and later released on bail.
