Two electrocuted to death during Ganesh procession at Vuyyuru

Vijayawada: A woman and her kin who came to her rescue were electrocuted during the procession of Ganesh idol immersion at Kakani Girijan Colony at Vuyyuru in Krishna district on Saturday.

Vuyyuru police said a 52-year-old woman, identified as Yedlapalli Ramulamma, went near the idol to offer a coconut when those who were on the vehicle carrying the idol were trying to raise the overhead power lines to avoid them coming in contact with the idol. This resulted in one of the wires snapped and fell on her.

As she suffered electric shock, her 42-year-old relative, identified as Yedlapalli Ramaiah, came to her rescue and also suffered the electric shock and died on the spot.
