Hyderabad: A house surgeon in Gandhi Hospital was reportedly assaulted by relatives of a patient on Monday evening. The Chilkalguda police has booked a case and further investigation is underway.
This is the second incident in a fortnight, doctor was assaulted at Niloufer Hospital.
The deceased patient, Javeed, doused himself with kerosene and attempted to commit suicide.
The family rushed him to Gandhi Hospital at around 2 pm on Monday. He sustained 80 per cent burns. At around 4,45 pm, he succumbed to his injuries.
Chilkalaguda sub-inspector of police B. Raju Naik said that the daughter of the deceased, Shabeena was disappointed with the treatment given by the doctors, and swung her helmet into the house surgeon, Dr Hema, and injured her on the shoulder.
The doctor approached the Chilkalguda police and lodged a complaint against Shabeena.
Based on the complaint, the Chilkalguda police booked a case under Indian Penal Code Section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and Section 4 of the Medical Services Act. Further investigation is underway.
