COIMBATORE: Mystery shrouds the death of a 21-year-old student who was found hanging inside her room in the city.
The victim, Pavithra, native of Thalavadi, Simittahalli in Erode district, was doing M.Sc. in a private college in the city. She was staying in a rented house near Puliyakulam, Bharathi Nagar, with three of her classmates.
Pavithra’s roommates had left for their native places a couple of days ago, and Pavithra stayed alone in the house.
Neighbours had seen the door remaining closed from inside, since Sunday. Under suspicion, a neighbour had banged the door several times, but there was no response. Hence, with the help of a few other neighbours, they managed to open the window of Pavithra’s room.
They were shocked to see Pavithra hanging dead from the ceiling fan. On an alert, Ramanathapuram police rushed to spot and sent the body to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for post-mortem. Investigations are on.
