Hyderabad: Gold chain stolen from elderly woman in hospital
Hyderabad:
A four-tola gold chain was reportedly stolen from an elderly woman admitted to Lims Hospital in Shamshabad.
The victim Lakshmamma, 75, was admitted to the hospital for treatment and her family members filed a complaint after they found that the chain had gone missing.
The woman of Kothur was admitted to Lims about four days ago after she suddenly fell ill. She was put in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until Friday and later shifted to a separate room.
On Saturday morning, her son Laxma Reddy noticed that a four tola gold chain worn by his mother was missing and lodged a complaint with the RGI Airport police on Sunday.
RGIA detective inspector D. Dasru Naik said that when the woman was admitted in the ICU, the gold chain was given to her family members.
But when she was shifted to a room, her family members reportedly put the chain back on her.
“There is no clarity about when the chain was put back on the woman. Her son claimed that he had put the gold chain after she was shifted out of the ICU. The footage on CCTV cameras showed a person walking into the room and walkin g out after talking to another patient,” said the DI.
He added that it is suspected that either the staff at the hospital or any of the woman’s relative would have stolen the chain, taking advantage of her being unconscious due to medication.
“A female nurse who was on the duty is yet to be questioned. A case of theft has been registered and the investigation is on,” said DI Dasru.
