Man attacks child rescue volunteer in Hyderabad

10-year-old rescued from culprit's cattle shed.

Hyderabad: A retired booking clerk of South Central Railway (SCR) abused officials of Childline, child protection staff and a Balala Hakkula Sangam leader on Friday while they were rescuing a trafficked child labourer from his cattle shed.

Tukaram police said that after receiving credible information Childline staffer Ashwini, assistant labour officer Nandu Naik and Balala Hakkula Sangam representatives Achyutha Rao and Rekha Rani conducted a raid on a cattle shed in Lallaguda near Secunderabad.

When the team tried to rescue a 10-year-old boy, who was trafficked from Bihar, the owner of the cattle shed, a retired railway employee named Babu Goud, abused them in filthy language. and attacked Achyutha Rao.

The team filed a complaint with Tukaramgate police saying that Babu Goud abused women staffers with filthy language. The child was rescued from the cattle shed and sent to a boys’ home.

Based on the complaint received from the child protection team, a case was filed under the Child Protection Act and IPC.
