Indore: 21-year-old ragged, burnt with cigarette, forced to strip

Shivam Singh Pawarn had complained to the college management who tried to hush up the matter.

Indore: A 21-year-old youth was beaten up, burnt with cigarette and forced to strip at a local college in an alleged case of ragging.

According to a report, Shivam Singh Pawarn had complained to the college management who tried to hush up the matter. Fed up with the continuous harassment by college seniors, Shivam decided to leave the city and left behind a two-page letter addressed to his parents explaining about his ordeal. After reading the letter, his parents informed the police and he was tracked down.

"Shivam had complained about a few college seniors and had narrated his college experience. As he was missing, I feared that he might kill himself. I immediately lodged a complaint with the police who found him at railway station," the victim's father, Vinod Singh Panwar, was quoted as saying in the report.

Police are now investigating the matter and will book the culprits. "The victim has given few names. We will book a case under relevant sections of IPC following investigation into the matter," said a police official.
