Fake currency note racket busted, 3 arrested in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The police has busted an inter-state fake currency racket operated by some people from West Bengal. Police arrested three persons including a woman and seized fake currency worth Rs 11.5 lakh.
The arrested suspects are Mohammed Ghouse of Chandrayanagutta and Shareeful Shaik and Jahannara Bibi from West Bengal. Currency supplier Babloo Shaik is absconding.
Additional DCP N. Koti Reddy said that Ghouse was earlier involved in counterfeit rackets and has cases in nine police stations in the city.
Nearly a month and a half ago he was released on bail. As soon as he was released he contacted his friends and they helped him to source and exchange the counterfeit currency.
“As per his request Babloo arranged fake currency worth Rs 12 lakh and sent it to Hyderabad with his mother Bibi and brother-in-law Shareeful to hand over to Ghouse in Hyderabad,” he said.
Based on a tip off police nabbed them while they were exchanging the fake currency near Charminar and seized Rs 11.95 lakh, a scooter and two mobile phones from them.
The arrested persons and the seized material were handed over to Charminar police station.
