Three bike lifters from Tandur arrested

HYDERABAD: Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths of Cyberabad’s Balanagar zone and Jeedimetla police nabbed three automobile offenders, Boini Srikanth, Methari Bhasker and Mettu Srikanth, and recovered 27 stolen bikes and one auto-rickshaw from them.

The accused belonging to Tandur in Vikarabad district always came to the city by train and lifted vehicles from isolated locations near railway stations. Later, they drove to Tandur in the stolen vehicles, which they sold. Around 28 vehicles have been stolen in the last six months.

They were earlier involved in 15 offences in Hyderabad and Cyberabad commissionerate and were arrested in 2022.

Four bike thieves arrested

Sleuths from the city commissioner’s task force (south zone) and Husainialam police nabbed four persons, including three child conflicts of law (CCL) suspects, who were reportedly involved in bike thefts. They recovered nine two-wheelers and one lakh cash from their possession.

The four arrested on Wednesday, included the prime accused Farhan Ahmed (20), from Phoolbagh whose accomplices were the CCL suspects.

While the CCL suspects were shifted to a juvenile home, Farhan was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody, according to A.V.R. Narsimha Rao, additional DCP (task force).

Accident on Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge leads to traffic jam

An accident involving a speeding Brezza on the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge led to a massive traffic jam on the stretch from Jubilee Hills to IKEA Wednesday afternoon. The occupants in the car fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle on the bridge. As the vehicle remained on the busy stretch for around 30 minutes, there was traffic jam on road no. 45 and all connecting roads.

Police rushed to the spot and towed away the vehicle to Madhapur PS. Further inquiries revealed that a youngster identified as Kiran was driving the vehicle (TS 09FB 4896). He lost control and hit the median after which the vehicle overturned. He and his friends received minor injuries, the police said. Madhapur police registered a case and started an investigation.

The vehicle is registered in the name of Narsing Yadav Arraboina and has four pending challans for over speeding.

Man gets five-year RI for sexual abuse of two four-year-old girls

The special judge for PoCSO cases in Medchal D. Venkatesham on Wednesday sentenced D. Mahesh Prakash, accused of sexually abusing two girls in Alwal in May 2020, to five years rigorous imprisonment.

The girls, who were four years old at that time, detailed before the court about how the accused abused them, resulting in his conviction.

The court completed the trial and delivered the judgement with the accused remaining in judicial custody.

On the day of the offence, when the two girls, who were neighbours, were playing outside their houses, the accused took them to his house and abused them sexually. Two days later, when he called them, the girls did not go. A girl’s mother noticed this and asked her why she was not going. The girl confided in her and narrated how she and her friend were sexually tortured by him.

On a complaint from the parents, Alwal police registered a case and arrested the accused.
