Hamlet housing gang of robbers

With a 24x7 surveillance by youngsters on roof-tops, the gangs ensure that no stranger enters the village.

Hyderabad: A hamlet, located on the hillocks over 200 km from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, houses over 80 families in which 20 families are completely into stealing valuables from private buses. The luxurious lifestyle of the families that are into stealing has shocked the police team.

One of the offenders caught by the Special Operations Team runs an English medium school at Kherwa Jageer village that is around 150 km away from Indore. The houses of the thieves in the remote hamlet have a minimum of two sedan cars and the houses are palaces.

With a 24x7 surveillance by youngsters on roof-tops, the gangs ensure that no stranger enters the village. They attack police with rods and also pelt stones to stop them from detaining offenders.

An investigating official from Cyberabad Police Commissionerate said: “The gangs from the hamlet leave the town twice in a month. They steal valuables while coming to a city and also while leaving. At each ‘dhaba’ , where the buses halt for dinner during late nights, the gang targets three buses.”
