Nayeem's dens spared despite tip-offs
Hyderabad: When Nayeem was alive, the police were scared to raid his dens despite having information about arms and illegal cash there. After Nayeem was shot dead there 20 raids were conducted across the state.
The raids are still going on. As per sources the police knew Nayeem's dens all along but were not ready to raid them due to either fear or political and departmental pressure.
For instance, locals and informants had earlier given tip-offs and complaints to police regarding the illegal activities at the Injapur house and Puppalaguda, where 'several men used to flock during odd hours and midnights' creating disturbance for others. But cops did not do anything till Nayeem was down.
The case is the same with at least four places in Nalgonda district, where police raided and seized ammunition and money. If cops did not know these places already it would not have been impossible to trace these dens, raid and unearth crores and a huge cache of arms, experts say.
Sources say the police had already prepared a list of Nayeem's dens months before the encounter. "They knew this all along. Minutes after his death as per the list they raided them simultaneously," said a source.
According to legal experts, the cops could have raided earlier and recovered the arms and ammunition along with cash to cripple Nayeem. The documents and other details could have been used as clues to track him down. "But the cops were not ready to take him on because of his powerful allies in thed government and in the department," said a source.
