Hyderabad: Class-I student gets electrocuted in school
Hyderabad: A Class-I student at Bakaram village in Moinabad died of electrocution on the school premises, when he accidentally came in contact with a wire hanging from a transformer.
His father Krishna, and mother Bhagyamma along with their children Bharath, 9, and Siva Kumar, 7, migrated to Bakaram from Bomraspet village for a livelihood.
Krishna took up the job as a watchman at Shanti Nilayaram orphanage while his wife Bhagyamma joined as a cook in the same orphanage. About eight days ago, they joined Bharat in Class-IV at a private school and Siva in Class-I at the government primary school.
On Monday, after lunch, at about 2 pm, Siva went to play in the ground and saw a wire hanging from a transformer inside the school and touched it. Though the transformer is not within reach, the wire was close to the ground.
Fellow students informed the teachers, who turned off the electricity and alerted the police. Moinabad inspector G. Venkateshwarlu said, “The boy accidentally came in contact with the wire. A case of suspicious death has been registered and the body has been handed over to his parents.”
Meanwhile, Balala Hakkula Sangham, a child rights organisation demanded that the police register a case against the electricity officials and the headmaster for being negligent.
