Hyderabad: Unable to cope up with the loneliness after the death of his best friend, an 85-year-old man committed suicide on Sunday afternoon in Amberpet.
Sub-Inspector of Amberpet police station N. Ramesh said that E. Ashaiah was saddened by the death of his best friend Waheed, 15 days ago.
“Ashaiah and Waheed, 87, spent their days together and would confide in each other. After the death of Waheed, Ashaiah often said that he was lost and did not know what to do. On Sunday afternoon at about 1.30 pm he hanged himself with his lungi in a room, while his family was upstairs,” said the official.
Ashaiah lost his wife three years ago, after which Waheed and he became very good friends.
He was a resident of new Ganganagar in Amberpet and stayed with his sons. On Sunday afternoon when his granddaughter went to Ashaiah’s room to call him for lunch, she found him hanging there and called the elders.
