Bengaluru: Arrested man gives police the slip

On Saturday Prashant was told to show the houses of his associates.

Bengaluru: An accused gave the police a slip while he was being taken for interrogation in a police jeep on Saturday. The incident happened around 8.30 pm when the accused, Prashant Kumar, who was earlier arrested by the HAL police in Kolar was being brought to the city for interrogation.

He is involved in more than 25 cases of robbery, kidnapping and attempt to murder, including the kidnapping bid of Vinay Bidare, a personal assistant of BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa.

On Saturday Prashant was told to show the houses of his associates. While he was being taken in the police jeep, Prashant requested the HAL inspector to stop the vehicle as he wanted to relieve himself.

The inspector obliged and the vehicle was stopped near ITI Ground in K.R. Puram police station limits. Two constables accompanied Prashant, but he pushed them and escaped under cover of darkness.

The police launched a massive search operation in the adjoining areas but failed to nab him. A complaint was lodged at the K.R. Puram police station.

Old rivalry
Prashant’s rivalry with rowdy sheeter Shivaraj dates back to many years. A few years ago Shivaraj had killed Prashant’s brother Vinod.

Later Prashant was on the look out to eliminate Shivaraj. However as he was not able to kill Shivaraj, two months ago Prashant had attacked his father with machetes and was absconding.

After tracking his mobile phone location he was traced to Kolar. The HAL police on Friday formed a team and headed to Kolar upon learning that he was present in a cinema hall. He was arrested there and brought to the city.

During the interrogation he also confessed to his involvement in the futile kidnapping attempt of Vinay.

K.R Puram police have formed teams to nab Prashant.
