7 including 3 minors held for gangrape of 14-year-old in Punjab

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

Nawanshahr: Seven persons including three minors were held in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Punjab, police said.

"Apart from three minors who were held today, other accused identified as Ravi Kumar of Garhi Fateh Khan, Sunny Kumar alias Sunny of Mohalla Paharganj, Rahon, Kamaljit alias Attu of Udhowal and Sulinder Kumar alias Labhi of village Garhi Fateh Khan, all aged between 22-24 years, were held near Rahon yesterday," SHO Raj Kumar said.

The victim, a class 9 student, in a complaint has alleged that one of the accused, who was known to her family, took her to a religious programme in his car at Rahon road on Thursday evening.

After travelling for some time, other accused also joined them and took her to an unidentified location where she was allegedly gang raped. The accused fled from the spot after committing the crime.

The girl later told her mother about the incident.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), Kumar said.
