45-year-old woman in Andhra Pradesh sexually abuses boy, booked under PoCSO
VIJAYAWADA: A 45-year-old woman was arrested and booked under the PoCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act on Saturday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old boy at Vambay Colony in Vijayawada.
This is the second incident of a woman being booked under the stringent Pocso Act, and the first case in AP. The first case involved a middle-aged woman at Puducherry, who sexually attacked a Class X student in January 2017.
According to the police, the accused is a neighbour of the victim. She was living alone after getting her two daughters married. Her husband expired about eight years ago, police said.
She was arrested following a complaint by the boy’s parents, and the victim sent for medical tests.
According to the complaint, the boy had gone to live with his relatives and was reluctant to return home. Upon being questioned, the boy told his parents that the woman had raped him several times and had threatened him to come to her whenever she called. The boy’s parents lodged a complaint about a week back and the police arrested the woman after thorough investigation.
Nunna police inspector I. Durga Rao told this newspaper, “After receiving the complaint we spoke to the victim’s parents and neighbours. We arrested the woman and booked her under the PoCSO Act. As it is a PoCSO case, we cannot reveal more details.”
