Three arrested for attempt to extort Rs 50,000 from businessman

Bengaluru: Three people were arrested by the Vijayanagar police for extorting money from a businessman on instruction from a rowdy who is serving jail-term for involvement in a murder. The police have arrested Naveen alias Bagga Seena (20), a resident of Kurubarahalli, Kiran Kumar alias Totti (19) and Akash alias Kariya (19), both residents of Cholurpalya. The accused were the henchmen of a rowdy Ravi alias Gunda who used to extort money from the businessmen through these accused. Ravi used to call his target and demand an amount from them, which the accused used to collect. The rowdy had called up a businessman Kushal and demanded Rs 50,000. When Kushal refused, the accused broke the windshields of his cars and created a ruckus outside his house in Amarjyothi Nagar on Wednesday.

The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera. A case was registered at the Vijayanagar police station in this regard following which the police arrested the trio.
