Karnataka: Gangaram Baderiya case - Plaint against DCP

Baderiya was arrested by the SIT in connection with Jantkal mining scam and was granted bail on June 2.

Bengaluru: Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief Charan Reddy has reportedly filed a complaint against former DCP H.D. Anand Kumar accusing him of trying to help tainted IAS officer Gangaram Baderiya get bail.

Baderiya was arrested by the SIT in connection with Jantkal mining scam and was granted bail on June 2. Reddy in his complaint to DG&IGP Rupak Kumar Datta filed about 15 days ago, has accused Kumar of interfering in the case and influencing SIT officials not to file objection plea to the Baderiya’s bail plea. According to Reddy, Kumar did this to help Baderiya get bail easily.

Baderiya was arrested for allegedly demanding a huge sum from a mining company to renew its licence in 2007. He was then the Director of the Mines and Geology Department.

Previously, in December 2009, Kumar who was the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Devanahalli sub division) was caught red-handed by Lokayukta while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a person. Kumar had helped the bribe giver in a forgery case.

An inquiry ordered by the then City Commissioner N.S. Megharik against him for allegedly pocketing money he had seized during a raid at a gambling den in Indiranagar last year is still pending.
