Murder: Woman, paramour held in Karnataka
BENGALURU: The Byappanahalli railway police have cracked a murder case, which was earlier thought to be an accident, and arrested the wife of the deceased and her paramour.
The accused have been identified as Kadeeramma, 42, and Govindappa, 36, both residents of Nakkanayakanahalli in Bangarpet of Kolar district. They have been accused of murdering Venkataswamy, 50, who objected to their illicit affair.
According to the police, Venkataswamy’s body was found on the railway tracks at Bisanattham railway station near Marikuppam on June 2. Initially the police thought it was an accidental death, but police intensified the probe when the elder brother of the deceased, Ayyappaiya, suspected Kadeeramma’s role in the incident.
“As we started the probe, we found her behaviour very casual. She was picked up for questioning and confessed to the murder. She revealed that her paramour Govindappa was living in the adjacent house with his wife and two children. They were in a relationship for the last 4-5 years. Recently, Venkataswamy learnt about this and had warned both of them to stay away,” the police said.
“But they continued their affair. On June 2 evening, Venkataswamy found both in the bedroom and picked up a fight. The accused duo took a wooden stick and hit on his head and also stabbed him on the forehead. To save his life, Venkataswamy ran till Bisanattham railway station and fell down. The accused duo strangulated him using a towel and dumped the body on the railway track, which later got run over by a train,” the police added.
Based on information provided by Kadeeramma, Govindappa, who was absconding after the incident, was arrested.
