Hyderabad: Constable didn't kill auto driver, says forensic report

Police said that Srinivas boarded the auto at Secunderabad and came to Saidabad as he wanted to buy liquor at midnight.

Hyderabad: Police could not find any evidence substantiating allegations of Green Park colony residents that constable, K. Vinod Kumar, killed auto driver Srihari Naik in Saidabad on Tuesday midnight.

Police said that Srinivas boarded the auto at Secunderabad and came to Saidabad as he wanted to buy liquor at midnight. Both of them got drunk and slept in the vehicle. Forensic experts said he died of excess alcohol consumption.

Police said that Vinod, a constable from Sirpur town in Adilabad district, came to see his ailing relative, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital at Borabanda. His relatives left the city on June 5 but Vinod stayed back and was loitering in the area around Secunderabad railway station, where he continuously consumed alcohol and slept on pavements.

On Tuesday midnight, he hired Srihari’s autorickshaw to go to Borabanda. But after travelling some distance, he wanted to buy liquor and asked Srihari to help him. Srihari a resident of Saidabad knew that they can get liquor in his area any time and drove to Saidabad.

“They purchased liquor for Rs 200 from one of the illegal shops and consumed it. Later they slept in the parked vehicle,” said Mr K Sattaiah, Saidabad inspector. Some women from the neighbourhood noticed Vinod sleeping in the vehicle in the wee hours and questioned him. He told them that he was a cop and entered into an argument with them. There was a verbal duel between Vinod and the women.

Following which, they suspected that he killed Srihari. They informed the police about the incident. There is no evidence to support their allegations of murder by Vinod. Though there are no external injuries on the body, the autopsy report will reveal the exact cause of death,” Mr Sattaiah added. Experts said the body had no external or internal injuries and the deceased could have died due to excess alcohol.
