Warangal: Shaik Farha, a postgraduate student, filed a complaint against the police that they beat her, insulted her and her mother and abused them by taking the name of their community at a public place without any provocation.
The video of the woman explaining her plight appeared in social media and went viral in erstwhile Karimnagar district on Wednesday.
Farha along with her mother boarded the RTC bus at Bejjanki mandal of Siddipet district on their way to Jagtial. When the bus reached Karimnagar, a woman boarded the bus and sat in the seat where Farha and her mother were sitting. A heated argument took place between Farha and the woman.
The woman, it turned out, was the wife of a sub-inspector, Anil.
When the bus reached Jagtial town, SI Anil along with another police constable reached there in a police vehicle, stopped the bus in the middle of the road and started abusing Farha and her mother.
When Farha asked SI Anil to mind his language, he and his wife beat up the mother and daughter. Farha tried to record the incident in her mobile, the SI and his wife obstructed her.
Later, Farha along with the help of her relatives posted the video on social media. “When the bus reached Jagtial town, SI Anil and his wife pulled me and my mother out of the bus, held us by our hair and beat us up. The SI kicked us in the stomach with his police shoes," the victim woman complained.
Farha lodged the case against the SI, his wife and a police constable of the Jagtial police station.
Meanwhile, the members of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party under the leadership of district unit president Younus Nadeem staged a dharna in front of the police station and demanded that the errant cops be suspended.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi MP made a phone call to Jagtial SP, A Bhaskar, and sought immediate action against SI Anil. “The SI attacked the two women and used foul language against Mulsims,” Owaisi said. The SP promised strict action against the SI.
