Karwar: Navy releases underwater photos of Suvarna Thribhuja

Now the Navy has released about six underwater photographs of the wrecked boat.

Karwar: The Indian Navy has released underwater photographs of the wreckage of Suvarna Thribhuja, a fishing boat which left Malpe fishing harbour on December 13, 2018 and went missing two days later.

The whereabouts of the boat were unknown till Navy officials accompanied by a team of fishermen and Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat finally found the wreck off the Malvan coast (Maharashtra). The wreck was found by INS Nireekshak on May 1 through side scan sonar operations and confirmed on May 2 by Naval divers undertaking saturation diving at a depth of 60 metres. This was confirmed by an Indian Navy spokesperson in a tweet.

Meanwhile, MLA Raghupathi Bhat shared details of the operation at a press meet in Udupi.

Now the Navy has released about six underwater photographs of the wrecked boat. These photos were clicked during the search operation last week. The photos clearly shows the name 'Suvarna Thribhuja.' The Udupi SP said the Navy authorities have confirmed tracing the wreckage of Suvarna Thribhuja.
