Malkajgiri cops bust fake job racket, nab two

Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) apprehended two persons on Wednesday for pretending to be government officials and allegedly cheating students after offering them jobs.

The SOT identified the duo as Md Kifayat, 29, of Bahadurpura and Shaik Moinuddin, 34, of Warangal.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said the accused had got visiting cards printed showing them as ‘assistant PA to Chief Minister’s adviser’.

They fixed a nameplate reading ‘PA in Government Peshi’ in front of the house. They also fitted a vehicle with a red beacon and siren, and hired a man from a private security firm to pose as their gunman, Mr Bhagwat said.

They used to approach students and promise them government jobs and collected about Rs 70 lakh from about 20 of them.

The police have seized Rs 1 lakh, three cars, a two-wheeler and two mobile phones, all worth Rs 20 lakh, from the two persons, who have been sent to judicial remand.

Father held for abusing girl

A man was arrested for sexually harassing his nine-year-old daughter in the absence of her mother on Tuesday night.

According to the Banjara Hills police, the accused was identified as Abdul Mahabub, 40, a worker living in Banjara Hills.“For the past 10 days he was sexually harassing his own daughter when his wife was away. Unable to bear the harassment, the daughter opened up to her mother who approached the police,” said Banjara Hills inspector K. Srinivas.

Based on a complaint, the man was booked under Section 354A (sexual harassment) of IPC and Section 8 of POCSO Act and remanded to judicial custody.

Man found dead under pvnr expressway

The body of an unidentified man was found under the PVNR expressway in Mehdipatnam on Wednesday. The man is suspected to have fallen off the expressway, Humayunnagar police said.

The victim could be aged around 30 years, Humayunnagar inspector N.L.N. Raju said. The body was found near Pillar number 1.

“He must have climbed the expressway and jumped off. He did not have any ID or document on him. We have shifted his body to Osmania Hospital and have put a look out notice,” said the official.
