Bengaluru: Moneylender abducts loan taker's teenage son
Bengaluru: Moneylenders kidnapped a 15-year-old boy from his residence in Adakamaranahalli while he was alone at home, after his father refused to pay the excess interest. The incident took place in Madanayakanahalli police limits on Tuesday.
The victim, Rajesh (name changed), a class 9 student at a residential school in Andhra Pradesh, had come home for summer vacations.
At the time of incident, his father M. Chandrashekar, who is a tractor driver, had gone to work, while his mother and sister were in their hometown.
The accused, Veerabhadraiah, and his men barged into Chandrashekar's house and kidnapped Rajesh on Tuesday morning.
Chandrashekar, who returned home in the evening, could not find his son.
When he called Rajesh on his mobile phone, Veerabhadraiah took the call and told him that his son had been held captive and would be released only after he paid Rs 1.5 lakh that was due.
Chandrashekar rushed to the Madanayakanahalli police station and filed a complaint against Veerabhadraiah, who released the teenager in the night.
Chandrashekar said Rajesh was terrified after the incident as his abductors had taken him to an isolated place and threatened to kill him if his father tried to approach the police.
Chandrashekar stated in his complaint that he had taken a loan of Rs 20,000 from Veerabhadraiah in 2015 and had returned it in seven instalments by paying Rs 3,750. But Veerabhadraiah asked him for an interest payment of Rs 1.5 lakh. The Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case.
