Hyderabad travel agency owner held for murder bid
Hyderabad: The Medipally police arrested a private travel agency owner and three on others on Monday for allegedly trying to kill a former employee.
Police said that travel agency owner K. Gyana Kumar held a grudge against Prashanth after he stopped working for him and started his own travel agency, due to which Gyana Kumar suffered losses. Police recovered Rs 2.5 lakh and a knife from them.
Police said the victim, T. Prashanth Kumar, a resident of Medipally, worked for JK Travels, owned by K. Gyana Kumar. A few months ago, Prashanth left the job and started his own travel business. After this, many drivers who were working for JK Travels shifted to the new agency started by Prashanth Kumar.
“As a result Gyana Kumar faced manpower shortage and suffered losses,” Medipally inspector B. Naveen Reddy said. Gyana Kumar decided to kill Prashanth Kumar thinking that it will help him recover, police said.
Gyana Kumar hired K. Krishna and Shaik Akthar and offered them Rs 3 lakh to kill Prashanth. Krishna and Akthar and a friend Md Hameed attacked Prashanth on April 23 as he was returning home on scooter.
“They intercepted and attacked him with a sickle on the head. However, Prashanth managed to escape. The attackers fled with his laptop and scooter,” Mr Naveen Reddy added.
Based on credible information police raided the JK Travels office at Ramanthapur and nabbed the four accused and recovered from them Rs 2.5 lakh, three vehicles including Prashanth’s scooter and a knife. The arrested persons were produced before court and sent to judicial custody.
