Hyderabad: A 13-year-old girl was raped by an unidentified stranger who forced her to consume a soft drink after which she became semi-conscious. Raidurgam police said that the incident occurred in the victim’s neighbourhood. The victim’s neighbour, Muchapothu Alavelu, allegedly helped the man lace the drink and rape the child.
According to police, the girl is the only daughter to her parents who sell toys. On Friday, her parents left the girl at Alavelu’s hut while they left for work. When they returned on Saturday morning, they found that their daughter was unwell. The girl told them that she was raped by a stranger and that Alavelu had helped him.
The parents lodged a complaint with the police. On inquiry, police found that the stranger had accompanied Alavelu to her hut after they consumed toddy at a nearby shop. She left the stranger with the girl and locked the hut from outside.
“As soon as she left, the man offered the girl a soft drink. When she felt groggy, he gagged and raped her,” Raidurgam inspector Durga Prasad said.The victim was sent for medical examination and teams have been formed to nab the suspect.
