Hyderabad: A five-year-old boy was run over by a tipper lorry at Bada Bazaar under the Golconda police limits on Saturday.
Golconda detective inspector M. Mallaiah said the accident occurred at about 8.30 am when Md Irfan was on the pillion of a cycle being ridden by one Md. Nawaz on the road between Bada Bazaar and Mothi Mahal.
The boys noticed the heavy vehicle coming behind them and tried to give way. “While he was moving to the left, the boys fell down on the ground. Nawaz fell towards the right side and was saved. Irfan fell on the left side and came under the wheels of the lorry,” Mr Mallaiah said.
The police registered a case under IPC Section 304(a) against the lorry driver and sent him to judicial remand. There was no permission for the heavy vehicle to run on the city roads after 6 am, a Golconda police officer said.
