Police said realtor P. Manikya Reddy abandoned the body of C. Santosh Reddy in the Narsapur forests in Medak.

Hyderabad: A realtor cheated his cousin of Rs 1.5 lakh after promising to show him hidden treasure in Nagpur and killed him when he asked for return of the money. Police said realtor P. Manikya Reddy abandoned the body of C. Santosh Reddy in the Narsapur forests in Medak.
The SR Nagar police arrested Manikya Reddy on Wednesday, more than a month after the murder, and recovered the body from the forest.
On February 10, SR Nagar police had received a complaint from the family of Santhosh Reddy saying that he was missing. Police registered a case and started a probe.
Police said Manikya Reddy had asked Santhosh to invest some money in order to dig the treasure at Nagpur. Two Nagpur natives, Padam and Sailesh, were part of the scam, a police officer at SR Nagar said.
Santhosh gave him Rs 1.5 lakh and waited for the treasure. When nothing happened for months, Santhosh started asking his cousin to return the money.
On January 31, Manikya and two others took Santosh to the forest for a party. They got him drunk and hit him with a boulder. They abandoned the body and burnt his dress to avoid identification.
Police arrested Manikya on Wednesday and took him to the forest to trace the body, which had decomposed. The accused has been sent to judicial remand. Police is now searching for the other two accused.
