Hyderabad: 3-year-old missing girl rescued
Hyderabad: The mystery of the three-year-old girl who went missing soon after she was seen playing in front of her maternal grandparent’s house at Shamshabad, has been unraveled 24 hours later. On Friday afternoon, the child was tracked and returned to her parents. The girl Bodikeluval Jennifer, from Maharashtra, was in the city visiting, along with her parents. The relieved mother of the child, Mrs Sharon said that though she was hopeful of the child’s safe return, she was very scared in the last 24 hours.
“She has never gone away from us. This was the first time but we are so relieved that she has been found”, said Mrs Sharon while thanking the police.
RGI Airport Inspector, Mr M. Mahesh said that since the girl is a minor, a kidnap case was booked and three teams were deputed to trace and rescue the girl. On Friday afternoon when police personnel were searching for her in the vegetable market near the Weaker Section colony, they were informed of an unidentified girl who had been taken home by one of the vegetable vendors. When they saw the girl, they identified her and brought her to the police station.
“Teams had been searching all railway stations in the city, neighbouring Mahabubnagar and all major bus stations too. But to our good luck the girl was found safe in the nearby market area”, said Inspector Mahesh.
He added that the girl while playing, had unmindfully, walked along the road and reached the market area. A passerby who saw her crying, informed the workers at the market, who took her home and kept her safe all night. "They thought some visitors to the market had lost the girl and planned to hand over the child if they came back searching for her the next day. Whole night they took good care of the child and fed her good food too", he added. She was handed over to her mother Sharon by the police.
The girl along with her parents Bodikeluval Rajesh and Sharon, hailing from Vaniraj village in Yavathmal district of Maharashtra came to the city a fortnight ago to her maternal grandparents' house located at the Weaker Section Colony near the railway station at Shamshabad. On Thursday, when her mother went to the Secunderabad railway station to see off her father who was travelling, Jennifer was playing in the open space. When she returned back, the child was missing.
