‘Sulli Deals\' app has no TS links: Delhi police

Meanwhile, officials from the city cybercrime wing said they would seek custody of the accused Neeraj Bishnoi

Hyderabad: The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Delhi Police special cell, who arrested the mastermind behind the ‘Sulli Deal’ app, confirmed that there was no connection with Hyderabad or Telangana in the case so far.

Meanwhile, officials from the city cybercrime wing said they would seek custody of the accused Neeraj Bishnoi, the main accused in the ‘Bulli Bai’ app case, and bring him to Hyderabad.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, K.P.S. Malhotra, DCP of the IFSO unit, said there was no link to Hyderabad or Telangana in the ‘Sulli Deals’ case that took place some months back, or ‘Bulli Bai’ case. “We arrested the mastermind behind the ‘Sulli Deals’ Om Thakur from his residence in Indore on Sunday. The arrest was made based on inputs provided by Niraj Bishnoi, the creator of ‘Bulli Bai’ app, during his interrogation,” said the official.

Meanwhile, ACP of Hyderabad cybercrimes K.V.M. Prasad said Bishnoi would be presented in the Delhi court and efforts were on to seek permissions to bring him to the city. “Similar cases were booked against him in Delhi and the case is under progress as they are finishing their probe. We will bring him to Hyderabad and produce him in the local court here,” said the official.

Based on a complaint from veteran social activist Khalida Parveen, the Hyderabad police registered an FIR in the case under Section 67 of the IT Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form), and Sections 354D (stalking of women) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC.

The Hyderabad police also contacted their Mumbai counterparts about the arrest of an engineering student from Bengaluru and another woman from Uttarakhand in connection with the case.

Apart from this, the cybercrime police stations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad booked two more cases after some women approached them saying their names were listed on the app, due to which they faced humiliation and online harassment.
