Vijayawada: Two college lecturers caught with fake PhDs

The Vigilance and Enforcement department busted a fake degree racket involving SRR college and Movva degree college.

Vijayawada: The Vigilance and Enforcement department busted a fake degree racket involving SRR college and Movva degree college and caught two lecturers possessing fake Ph.Ds. The two lecturers got the fake Ph.D certificates from Magadh University after being recruited as junior lecturers through APPSC in 2013. The college education department had detected the fraud after conducting a probe which confirmed that the degrees were fake and had been procured by paying a bribe. Enforcement department officials then approached Magadh University authorities who, following verification, confirmed that the degrees were indeed fake.

Vijayawada regional vigilance and enforcement officer M. Ravindranath Babu said the matter was being brought to the notice of the state government for further action. The two lecturers were identified as M. Rajnikanth who is placed in the Government degree college at Movva in Krishna district and Rajesh who teaches in SRR college in Vijayawada. The APPSC had filled degree lecturer posts in 2013 and issued a notification for the purpose. Responding to this, two candidates with Ph.D in computer sciences had applied for the job.
