Hyderabad: A 53-year-old autorickshaw driver was awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Nampally court on Tuesday for raping a minor girl in his vehicle in Begumpet. He was also fined Rs 3,000.
The accused, Phahe-erwar Narsingh alias Auto Narsingh, hails from Hasmathpet in Alwal. The girl’s mother purchases vegetables in bulk from farmers every morning and takes them in Narsing’s auto and supplies them to retail shops at Hasmathpet.
A complaint was received from the nine-year-old victim’s parents on December 21, 2016.
“On December 19, the victim and her mother had gone to the Seetar-ampuram vegetable ma-rket to collect money. The mother left her daughter with Narsing and went for collection around 9 pm. When she came back in an hour, her daughter complained about pain as the auto driver sexually assaulted her,” said the police. A case was booked against him under relevant Sections of the IPC and the Pocso Act by the Bowenpally police.
Narsing was convicted with 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000.
