Teacher sexually abuses kids, parents stage protest in Suryapet district

The parents staged a violent protest demanding action against the accused teacher.

Hyderabad: A teacher working in a private school in Suryapet district was booked for allegedly sexually harassing students of Classes IV and V. The parents, who came to know of the issue, staged a protest at the school and damaged furniture.

In another incident in Jogulamba Gadwala district, a student was severely beaten up by the class teacher.

According to police, the teacher, identified as Gollapalli Ramesh of the private school in Tungaturthi town, had been sexually harassing students for the past few weeks. After one of the students mentioned this at home, her parents conveyed it to others and they reached the school and staged a protest demanding action against the teacher.

When the management blocked them and kept the teacher in a room, parents turned furious and damaged furniture and broke window panes. Police rushed to the spot and controlled the crowd and apprehended the teacher. A case was booked and a probe was launched, said Tungaturth S-I Balu Naik.

Meanwhile, students of Class V of Upper Primary School in Manavapadu in Jogulamba Gadwala district were beaten up severely by their English teacher Gopal Reddy. Students said they were beaten while they were playing. Balala Hakkula Sangham lodged a complaint with the local police and also approached the DEO seeking action against the teacher.
