Online trolling: Student activist files complaint in Mangaluru

She also brought to police that the activists had harassed a girl in Mudigere which lead to her suicide.

MANGALURU: A MCom student, who is also the district secretary of Students Federation of India (SFI), has alleged that photos of her with her friends is being circulated and trolled in the social media by right wing activists.

The student, Madhuri Bolar, has registered a complaint with the cyber crime police and met the City Police Commissioner at his office on Tuesday morning.

About a year ago the girl had been to a conference with her fellow activists. The friends had clicked the photo which was also shared on Facebook. However miscreants, allegedly from right wing, have copied this photo and it is making rounds on WhatsApp as one among the fellow activist Hamza Kinya was a Muslim.

She alleged that messages were making rounds that Hamza was seen with Hindu girls and Hindus have to keep an eye on him. "I am disturbed by this," the girl stated.

She also brought to police that the activists had harassed a girl in Mudigere which lead to her suicide.

Madhuri's mother Bharathi who too had come to Commissioner's office was angry on those who were responsible for the incident.

"Who are they to tell what my daughter should do. Let them come before me. I would give them a befitting reply. We won’t sit quiet," she warned.
