Kochi murder: Body that of woman in thirties, over a year old, circle inspector told

They were also told about the possibility of the victim being subjected to brutal murder.

Kochi: A team of forensic experts led by police surgeon Dr Unmesh on Tuesday performed autopsy and handed over to the investigation team certain informations to help identify the victim, mainly the possible body features, in the case where a skeleton was found sandwiched inside concrete in a plastic drum at Kumbalam the other day.

“Since it was only the skeleton remaining, we followed an entirely different set of protocol while performing the detailed forensic test and post mortem. Techniques such as forensic facial reconstruction (recreating face of an individual from their skeletal remains) were used and the findings were handed over to the investigation team later in the day. It includes possible feature of the victim for helping the cops to identify the body,” said sources in the Forensic team.

Only a few hairs and a torn piece of cloth was remaining in the body found dumped in a plastic drum filled with concrete and bricks at both ends near Santivanam at Kumbalam on Monday.

The forensic experts earlier informed the investigation team led by South Circle Inspector Sibi Tom that the body is that of a woman in her thirties and is over a year old. They were also told about the possibility of the victim being subjected to brutal murder.

Meanwhile, the cops have started preparing a list of missing cases of women reported one-and-a-half years back. A simultaneous probe is also on to find out whether outsiders, especially migrant labourers, had camped at the region over a year ago and had suddenly disappeared. “Our first task is to identify the victim,” the sources said.
