Techie Held for Impersonating Protocol Adviser

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police arrested Busi Praveen Sai (23), an MTech passout, for impersonating a ‘protocol adviser’ at the Chief Minister’s Office and cheating a tax consultant, Mallampally Veerabhadra Rao, of Rs.8.1 lakh by promising to sell government land at a low price. Police seized a variety of fake government documents.

Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan said that Praveen had installed a board on a piece of land at Gandi Maisamma temple, Abdullapurmet, to lure Rao, and offered to sell it at Rs.25 lakh. Rao paid Rs.2.1 lakh to Praveen through a digital transaction and gave Rs.6 lakh at the site.

The victim said his driver Anil had introduced him to Praveen. Rao later came to know that the land belonged to a private person, and approached the police. Upon his arrest, police said, Praveen confessed to have cheated six others.

Police recovered a fake ID card, nine TS government stickers, three MLA pass stickers, two appointment letters of the intelligence department, home minister letter pads, TS Police stickers, a laptop, NoC for lease registration documents and an MUV with fake number plates apart from vehicle siren sets.
